Like a lot of other people I had a flurry of activity a few weeks ago on 2 of my 3 sites. I made a small question change and it all stopped.
There is also an issue with accounts being compromised on a 3rd party site and those accounts with common username/logins on multiple sites are being used to revive old accounts and post spam. This can easily be defeated though with the info mentioned here viewtopic.php?p=16002820#p16002820
