The sid-traffic on my site has definitely gone down, but when I think it had completely stopped it goes up again (but nowhere near the original number):

I have already expressed that I also like to see the sid-in-the-url gone; not only can it cause this problem, but people also obtain links (and put them in posts, favorites, etc.) which contains a sid that is meaningless to other people and even to themselves week later.
