I have something that has literally stumped me for years, and I am hopeful that someone among you is able to point me into a direction where I can maybe start troubleshooting what causes it.
My board is 10 years old and when I started it I knew absolutely nothing, and everything I learned in the first couple of years (extensions, customizing, etc) was done on a live board. I most certainly have a test board now, but rest assured there were hiccups along the way there - which is why I now have said test board![:D]( "Very Happy")
There is something very subtle going on with the permissions which messes up a couple of - minor - things, and I really have no idea where to start looking.
A screenshot is maybe (hopefully) enough to illustrate:
See how the permission for something is "Never" - but the permission masks show a different story. Now the permission masks are correct, that is exactly how everything is set in the permissions, but the result is wrong.
It's not that particular extension causing it, though. If I were to remove that extension, the bug will "shift" to a different permission, if that makes sense. So something else may then be subtly "off". I've been uninstalling and reinstalling extensions in countless combinations on my test board but never found it. As I said, the issue(s) this causes is/are minor and the board works otherwise flawlessly, so I've lived with this for a very long time.
I would like to see it fixed now though![:)]( "Smile")
I suspect (but I may be completely wrong) that maybe there is, in the database, some vestigial permission from an ancient extension - very possibly one that isn't even installed anymore - that messes up a couple of permissions that are entirely unrelated. A name conflict perhaps? No idea...
Would any of you SQL-meisters have any insight in this?
