Did you actually compare the /vendor from 3.3.14 to the 3.3.13 /vendor ?These updates seem to be more about updating the various 3rd party packages in the PHPBB package than changes to the actual code of the forum itself. I end up uploading hundreds of files, all part of packages, and a tiny handful of phpbb3-specific files.
Actually the size of the /vendor folder(s) is already a giveaway that uploading hundreds of files isn't needed.
